Free Online Courses for Teachers

Did you know that the U.S. Department of Education is offering FREE online courses for educators through its "Teacher to Teacher: Supporting Success" initiative? These courses are probably eligible for Act 48 hours. According to the eLearning Workshops web site:

Pennsylvania teachers must submit eLearning Certificate of Completion to local school districts (or Intermediate Unit) for recording. Teachers also may obtain credit for attending USDOE workshops, seminars, and other functions if U.S. Department of Education's Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative is listed as part of an approved Professional Development Plan. Teachers should contact their school districts before completing the activity to ensure that the activity will be accepted.

Courses are available on English/language arts and math/science topics as well as subjects such as assessment, differentiated learning, behavior strategies, and more. Each course is worth two professional development hours (with opportunities to earn additional hours) and includes the viewing of videos, which require a high-speed Internet connection.

Visit the eLearning web site for more information or to enroll.
