Texting to Learn?

Many of our students, especially our high school students, come into the building each morning with powerful computers in their pockets. However, these computers, many with Internet access, stay out of sight during the school day and reappear only after the final bell rings and students escape through the front doors. These powerful computers are cell phones.

Some schools are beginning to take advantage of cell phones and other small learning devices that students already have or which can be bought inexpensively. Take a look at the CNN video below, which I read about on the "Free Technology for Teachers" blog. Are cell phones just a nuisance at school--or an untapped source of information and applications for learning?
