Teaching Common Core Reading and Writing (and Thanksgiving!)

Reading and Writing
For example, Achieve the Core has a "Try This in Your Classroom" section with lessons and student writing samples.

ReadWorks.org includes reading passages for K-12 as well as science passages and research-based question sets, also for K-12. (Free registration required)

Text-Dependent Analysis
Achieve the Core also has a section on Text-Dependent Analysis, with tips for creating text-dependent questions.

Reading Rockets includes a three-part series on evidence-based responses, called "Grounded in Evidence." Part one discusses fictionPart two, informational text; and Part three, constructed responses based on evidence.

Thanksgiving
Free Technology for Teachers shared that BoomWriter is offering a free Thanksgiving writing lesson for Grades 3-8.

ReadWorks is offering a set of K-12 nonfiction passages about Thanksgiving.
